Children’s Camp visit Crossville Model Railroad Club
The Crossville Model Railroad Club hosted a special event Friday June 14 where nearly 70 children from the United Methodist church summer camp came for a visit. Volunteer club staff members were on hand to provide an introduction to model trains.
Campers began by learning about the different types of equipment and what the various cars are used for. This was a hands on event with eager to participate young guests who were invited to hold very large G scale model trains.
Following the introduction guests were escorted into the club where staff provided a tour of the five different scale layouts that wind through the nearly 5000 square foot facility.
Pat Taylor the club’s President shared a diorama built by a member master modeler that illustrates the iconic completion of the Transcontinental Railroad which happened in Utah on May 10, 1869. This year celebrates the 150th year of the Golden Spike event where the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads literally connected the United States from East to West.
Crossville Model Railroad Club is a community attraction that hosts special events to help promote the hobby and share a bit of rail history. The Club is located in the Crossville Outlet Center.
